Kingston Council launches agile digital platform and user focused design with new website

Launched in January 2016, the brand new website for Kingston residents is now mobile friendly and delivers a more user-friendly experience.

The project demonstrates Kingston Council’s commitment to deliver a more technologically developed yet functional and relevant website for users to carry out transactions easily. Research by the authority discovered that more than 50% of council transactions are now carried out online which strategically informed the website design.

Powered by the Jadu Continuum CMS platform, the site has been fully re-designed by creative digital agency Spacecraft Digital to be mobile-optimised and a thorough user-journey has been considered to complete the website.

Councillor Andy Johnson-Creek, cabinet member with responsibility for communications, said:

This new redesign represents a significant milestone for residents across the borough. This relaunch of our website shows that the council is keeping up with latest online technology and expectations from the public to carry out Council-related transactions with ease.

“In addition, this will help us make major savings which everyone welcomes in these times of austerity.” The Council found people switching to online payments for services had saved it about £400,000 over a period of three years. Kingston Council implemented Jadu CMS in 2013 and has consistently demonstrated savings since the new platform has been live.

Jadu recently announced that it has moved to a continuous delivery model where upgrades to its web software platform are no longer needed, saving millions in costs to its customer base.
