Watford focuses on user-friendly and responsive portal for residents to deliver digital service

The result of a six-month project, led by creative agency Spacecraft Digital, will now allow residents of Watford to be able to use their local council’s website to complete simple tasks online.

The delivery of this new website enables a number of useful functions as well as a more user-focused design.

Sitting on the recently launched Jadu Continuum web experience platform, the website can now be used to make online payments to the council, apply for planning permission, request recycling services and much more.

Using sophisticated eye-tracking by one of Spacecraft Digital’s expert UX researchers, strategic recommendations about improvements to the website layout and hierarchy of icons were made. Furthermore, a responsive website to replace the previous static website will now allow residents to use services while ‘on the go’.

“We’re very pleased that the website project has gone so well”, Said Manny Lewis, Managing Director of Watford Borough Council.

Digital service is key to the council's strategy for engaging with our customers  and the people we serve. We’re starting with a platform and website that will serve as a foundation for transformation”.

The council are now looking at ways to expand the Continuum platform for wider use across the council's services.
