ICELE international eDemocracy website is launched using Jadu Galaxies content management to help deliver Web 2.0 for Local Authorities

Lichfield – Staffordshire - October 31, 2006. Today the International Centre of Excellence for Local eDemocracy (ICELE) launched its new website www.icele.org using the Jadu Galaxies platform.

The ICELE website is the first stage in establishing the Centre as the first port of call for local authorities, for best practice advice and support, on everything to do with local e-democracy.

ICELE's ambition is to help local authorities improve two-way engagement with communities by providing best practice advice, support and practical solutions, focusing on the use of technology. The aim of the centre is to capture, contribute and disseminate best practice advice on local e-democracy internationally, nationally and locally.

Lichfield District Council (LDC) will support the development of ICELE as the Local Authority responsible for the Centre. Lichfield selected Jadu Galaxies for it's outstanding ease of use and unparalleled delivery timescale.

"We implemented and launched Jadu Galaxies for ICELE in just 4 weeks from when the decision was made to purchase. Because we have total non-technical control over design, implementation and launch - all Jadu had to do was install the system, which took just 2 days." Says Elizabeth Thatcher, Communications Manager at LDC.

Jadu Galaxies launched just four months ago in June and has already been implemented by many Local Authorities in the UK and more recently in the Middle East by Epoc Messe, one of the world's largest global events organisers.

As part of its 'Web 2.0' strategy, Jadu Galaxies has revolutionised the way in which enterprise web content management is delivered by enabling non-technical managers to design and deploy content management systems - removing implementation costs and reducing the time required to deploy enterprise websites.

Cllr Matthew Ellis, Chairman of ICELE, commented: "We'd like to encourage all local authority employees - from webmasters, to communicators, to regeneration teams, to those leading on democratic participation to take part..."

Suraj Kika, CEO of Jadu said: "ICELE is an important step forward in the way the UK delivers eDemocracy. Jadu is excited and delighted to be working with ICELE and have the International portal powered by Jadu Galaxies.

We at Jadu are committed to providing un-paralleled content management technology to Government and ICELE is a shining example of how working in partnership can deliver amazing efficiencies and above all - an accessible, useful and usable place on the web to share knowledge and the vision about e-enabling democracy."
