Import Data

The basic import will create Person records in CXM based on the values in the CSV file, but Address and User records can also be created at the same time if there is enough information in the import file to do so.

Person records

The following information is required to create minimal Person record in CXM:

  • Forename
  • Surname
  • Address (see below)

Other values that can optionally be imported to a Person record:

  • Title
  • Middle names
  • Email address
  • Telephone (primary)
  • Telephone (secondary)

Addresses

To map an Address to a Person, the following must be provided

  • CXM address reference, UPRN, or alternative unique reference for the address in the configured address lookup service (e.g. Locator Family Id in Esri LocatorHub).

If a UPRN or alternative reference is given that does not already exist in the CXM database, the address will be retrieved from the configured address lookup service and added to CXM.

If the address does not exist in CXM and cannot be found via the address lookup service then it will be fail validation and be logged in the output as a failure. This will be the case for all UPRNs if no address lookup service is configured. If this occurs, no Person record will be created for this row.

The address will be linked to the Person as their primary address.

Import of multiple addresses for a Person is not supported.

Note: Address lookups

Each address that is not already present in the CXM database will be fetched from the configured address lookup service. If there is a charge per-lookup for this service then this could result in a high cost for a large import.

Users

To have a CXM User record created and linked with a Person, the following must be provided in the import file:

  • Email address
