Creating your first rule
In this example, we have a simple form that collects some optional personal details about the customer.
Let's create a simple rule, to change the content on the complete page to display the customer's name if they provided it.
Navigate to Rules in the top navigation bar (under the form title).
Click Create Rule. The rule designer will open up.
Give your rule a title - 'Complete Page with Name'.
Changing the complete page is an on submission action, so leave the When block set to User submits the form.
We only want to show the customer's name if they answered the name question on our form, so let's add a condition to the rule for this. Click And under the When block. A new condition block will open. Select Question, and then the name question from the form. Leave the operator as was answered - that suits our needs perfectly.
In the Then block, select Show content on form completion.
In the appearing using template dropdown, select Create new....
A popover will open, so we can design our complete page action template. We can re-use this in other rules on this form, and it will be the template in use for this Then block when we've finished it.
Set the title as 'My Complete Page', and design the content for your new complete page in the rich text editor. Use the Insert placeholder toolbar button to insert the variables for your form as necessary.
Save the template. It will load automatically into your rule block.
Ensure the rule is enabled, by checking the enabled toggle is in the on position.
Save the rule. The rule designer will close, and your rule will be listed on the page.
Test your form by submitting with and without providing your name. You will see that the complete page differs between the two submissions.
