Continuum CXM #97

Accessibility improvements, user list filtering, case ribbon configuration and single sign-out

New Accessibility Improvements

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving accessibility across CXM, we have re-implemented one of our least accessible types of form field! Multi-select fields that are searchable (e.g. person, address and organisation finders) have now had their inner workings revisited. The result of this work means that they are now significantly easier to use with a keyboard and easier to understand when read by screen readers.

As well as improving the usability of these form fields, users with screen readers should notice an improvement when using modal windows such as the ‘Create Case’ journey.

From our initial screen reader testing we have identified that using either NVDA / JAWS (v18 / 2018 on Windows 7 in Internet Explorer 11) have produced the most consistent results when used alongside CXM.

We are aware of an intermittent issue with multi-select fields, where previously selected options displayed on page load aren’t always read correctly by JAWS when tabbed to. We will be addressing this in an upcoming sprint.

We have noticed some inconsistencies when using JAWS with Internet Explorer Edge, however Freedom Scientific have mentioned in their release notes that support is being improved with each release.

New Filter 'users' list by user 'status'

Users with access to ‘Settings > User Administration’ can now filter the users list by the status of a user (active / incomplete / disabled) and we have also added the total number of users to the top of the list. This means you will now be able to easily see how many active ‘MyAccount’ users you have (by also filtering on ‘user type’).

New Configure the case ribbon

Users with the permission to ‘manage case table columns’ will now see the ‘case ribbon’ page from the settings menu.

The case ribbon is the area at the top of every case timeline where it is useful to show the most important data about a case, and users can now easily add, remove, edit and reposition these ‘ribbon elements’ from this page.

The case ribbon is set in one place for all case types but a ribbon element will only appear on a case if its value is populated

New Single Sign On - User sign out improvement

We have made an improvement to how our single sign on integration handles user sign out. Support has been added for OIDC Back-Channel Logout. When enabled for your account, this will mean that when the user signs out of their CXM account, their session in the linked third party application is also terminated.
