What’s changing?
We’re updating our backup and recovery approach to provide stronger protection, longer retention, and more robust restore testing.
This is a behind-the-scenes improvement designed to make sure your data can be recovered quickly and reliably if it’s ever needed.
Why are you making this change?
We’re standardising and aligning our backup approach to:
- Improve recovery options in the event of an incident
- Retain backups of your data for longer periods
- Regularly test restores to ensure backups are usable
- Align with recognised security and compliance best practice to protect against additional threats like ransomware and supplier failure
In short, it gives us more confidence, more resilience, and more evidence that backups work as intended, all positive improvements for your business continuity plans at no extra cost to you.
Does this affect my live service or data access?
No. There is no change or impact to:
- Live systems or performance
- Availability or uptime
- How you access or manage your data
- Day-to-day platform usage
- Cost of the service to you
This change applies only to how backup copies are stored and verified.
Where will backups be stored?
Backup copies will be securely stored in the same regoin as your primary hosting:
- UK based customers will use a UK-based backup environment.
- US based customers will use a US-based backup environment.
- AUS based customers will use an AUS-based nackup environment.
This applies only to backups, not live production systems.
Does this mean my data is being moved permanently?
No. This change affects encrypted backup copies only.
Your live data continues to operate exactly as it does today. Backups are used solely for recovery in the unlikely event they’re ever needed.
How is my data protected?
All backup data is:
- Encrypted at rest and in transit
- Access-restricted to authorised operations staff only
- Monitored and regularly verified
- Subject to routine restore testing
These controls are in place to ensure backups remain both secure and recoverable.
How long are backups retained?
Under the updated approach, backups are retained across multiple timeframes (daily, weekly, monthly, and long-term), giving us more restore point options than previously.
Our backup retention periods are designed to balance security, recoverability, and compliance requirements.
Will this help with audits or compliance?
Absolutely yes! The updated backup process improves:
- Evidence of successful backups
- Restore testing records
- Operational oversight
This helps support common audit and assurance frameworks and global security standards.
What if I have specific data residency requirements or where can I get more information?
We’re happy to discuss your requirements and explain how this change applies to your environment.
If you have contractual, regulatory, or organisational requirements around data residency for backup storage, then please raise a Jadu Support ticket with us or reach out with your query to your dedicated Account manager and we can pick up any further conversation required from there.
