Since 2020, Jadu and Shaw Trust have worked together to advance one shared mission: to make the digital world more inclusive for everyone.
The long-standing partnership has been driven by a shared belief that accessibility isn’t just about compliance; it’s about people, fostering empathy, and creating a digital culture that empowers everyone to participate fully.
Their latest collaboration, “Accessibility is not a checkbox.”, brings that belief to life. This is a powerful video that explores the real lived experiences of Shaw Trust users with visual impairments as they navigate the internet in today’s digital society. Through honest, personal conversations, the project shines a light on what happens when digital accessibility falls short, and how inclusive design can transform frustration into freedom.
“When technology works, it’s the most amazing feeling because everything’s working in synergy,” says one of the participants. “It just opens up the world in so many ways.”
Joe Manock, Lead Commercial Account Manager at Shaw Trust, reflects on the partnership’s impact:
“Our work with Jadu demonstrates what’s possible when accessibility is treated as a shared responsibility. By collaborating from the outset, we’ve helped organisations build digital services that don’t just meet standards, they genuinely improve people’s lives. Accessibility benefits everyone, and this film captures that beautifully.”
The film emphasises that accessibility is not an optional add-on or a post-launch edit. It's a mindset that needs to be built into every stage of digital design, development and content creation. When websites are created with accessibility in mind from the ground up, they don’t just serve people with disabilities better; they serve everyone better.
Lee Pilmore, Head of Brand at Jadu, who directed and produced the film, explains:
“We wanted to move beyond checklists and compliance and really show the human side of accessibility. Hearing directly from people about how digital barriers affect their lives is incredibly powerful. It reminds us that inclusive design isn’t just good practice, it’s the right thing to do.”
Suraj Kika, CEO at Jadu, adds:
“Accessibility has always been part of Jadu’s DNA. Working alongside Shaw Trust has helped us continually challenge ourselves and our customers to go further, to see accessibility as a cultural commitment, not a checkbox. This film is a reminder that technology should bring people together, not leave them behind.”
This message sits at the heart of their work together. Shaw Trust, with its deep expertise in accessibility testing and inclusive practice, and Jadu, as a leader in digital experience platforms for the public sector, have long partnered to help organisations create digital services that are truly open to all.
Together, Jadu and Shaw Trust continue to champion accessibility as a shared responsibility, not a checkbox exercise. By embedding inclusive thinking across technology, culture, and leadership, we can build digital experiences that are both empowering and equitable.
